Phi Beta Owl Club at William and Mary College

On Sunday, July 19th, the Executive Council formally recognized an Owl Club at the College of William and Mary and announced the return at the 2020 Digital Summit. Owl Club is the term used to identify a group of uninitiated students who are looking to restart a dormant chapter of Psi Upsilon. This group of dedicated students has been working with the Phi Beta Alumni Association over the past few months to be able to position themselves for a successful return.

If you know any students who would make a great member please let us know by filling out this link.

Jason Allen joins Psi U staff as Director of Chapter Services

We’re excited to welcome Jason Allen as Psi Upsilon’s new Director of Chapter Services!

Jason joins the Psi Upsilon staff after almost a decade of working in higher education. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, joining at their Oneonta State College Chapter where he completed his bachelor’s in Sociology; and shortly after that, he completed his master’s degree at Binghamton University. Since then, he has worked at Cornell University, Phi Kappa Psi headquarters, and Phired Up Productions. Having seen our multifaceted industry from many angles, Jason will develop, coordinate, and direct the services the International Fraternity provides to its collegiate chapters.

Originally from upstate NY, Jason is a Midwest transplant and, with his girlfriend and dog, is embracing all the things Indianapolis has to offer. As an introverted extrovert, Jason loves to spend his time with friends and family, and then quickly likes to go home to catch up on couch time, baseball, and the newest series to binge watch.

Feel free to reach out to Jason at Jason@psiu.org and welcome him to the team!

Gamma Tau Chapter History and Virtual Tour

After the circumstances of 2020 meant that the Gamma Tau Chapter at Georgia Tech would not be hosting the 177th Convention as originally planned, the chapter put together this virtual tour.

Constructed using Google Slides and uploaded to video, assets like this will also help aid chapters with virtual or online outreach and recruitment this fall.

Thanks to Gamma Tau brothers Erin Falejczyk, ’21, Randall Kliman, ’21, Amanda Nabors ’16, Alex Hofelich, ’98, Jonathan Chaffin, ’00, and all the brothers the chapter and the Psi Upsilon Society of Georgia who worked on aspects of Convention and the Digital Summit.

Do you have a video highlighting the strengths of your chapter? We’d love to see them. Please contact jonathan@psiu.org to share.

2020 Award Winners

The Diamond Award recognizes chapters that distinguish themselves by exceeding the Psi Upsilon Fraternity chapter standards, and is the top recognition a chapter can receive in Psi Upsilon.

For the 2019-20 year both the Zeta Chapter at Dartmouth and the Lambda Sigma Chapter at Pepperdine are being presented with this honor.

The Zeta Chapter has shown a commitment to excellence in academics, athletics and service and have multiple brothers make great philanthropic efforts over the course of the academic year including raising over $50,000 for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.

The Lambda Sigma chapter has gone above and beyond the requirements for service in both hours, averaging over 40 per brother, and through the organization of charitable events while also displaying a commitment to academics reflected in the highest GPA among fraternities on campus last Fall.
