A gift to the Psi Upsilon Foundation by will or trust is a creative way to help in the long term, while still retaining full control of your assets during your lifetime. Each bequest to the Foundation serves as a legacy to future generations, and helps secure the future of the Psi Upsilon.

Making a provision in your will for the Psi Upsilon Foundation is a simple process. You can leave a specific asset, a percentage of your estate or the remainder of your estate after you have taken care of other beneficiaries. Also, you may leave your bequest unrestricted or designate it for a specific use. The appropriate wording for making a gift depends upon the type of gift, state law and your own unique circumstances. The following will provision is an example of how you may designate your gift. Consult an attorney to be sure you have a properly drafted legal document.

“I, [name], of [city, state, zip], give, devise and bequeath [percentage of estate remainder, written amount or description of property] to the Psi Upsilon Foundation, a Rhode Island not-for-profit corporation with offices in Indianapolis, Indiana. This gift is made to help further the objectives and purposes of the Psi Upsilon Foundation.”

If you are comfortable doing so, we would appreciate having a copy of that portion of your gift vehicle where Psi Upsilon is noted. While this is not a necessity, it is helpful for the Foundation to have some understanding of its beneficiary status. Since many entities within Psi Upsilon have similar names we can also ensure that your gift reaches its intended beneficiary.

Schoepflin Society

The Schoepflin Society is a recognition club for those who have named Psi Upsilon as a beneficiary in their will, estate plan or other planned gift. The Society is named for Paul H. Schoepflin, Pi (Syracuse) 1912, whose bequest made him one Psi Upsilon’s largest benefactors. Recognition of his gift and of yours will encourage others to follow your lead. This is a marvelous opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of future generations of Psi Upsilon brothers.

Special distinction is given to those whose provisions are irrevocable.
