Psi Upsilon 177th Convention Details

177th Convention and 2021 Leadership Institute
July 23-26 2021
The Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club
Madison, WI

In 1841 when the Delta Chapter at NYU invited all Psi U’s to their campus for a meeting we became the first fraternity to ever hold a convention. We’re excited to continue that tradition today at the 177th such gathering in Madison, WI! Whether you’re an involved alumnus, a new member who joined this Spring, or an alumnus who hasn’t revisited Psi U for some time there is something for everyone at a Psi U Convention. You can register for the entire Convention or just sign up for single events, like the Friday and Saturday evening social events, Saturday’s Scholarship Luncheon, or Sunday’s Awards Banquet.

Distinguished Alumni Service Award to Gary Pan, Eta ’86

Gary Pan, Eta ‘86 (Lehigh)

Join us in celebrating Gary Pan, Eta ’86 (Lehigh) as he receives the Distinguished Alumni Service Award. from Psi Upsilon. Over the last 20+ years, our brother Gary Pan has been one of the strongest supporters of Psi Upsilon and a steadfast member of the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee. In 2014, Gary joined the Foundation Board of Directors, all while continuing to engage with the undergraduate Eta Chapter and keeping the bonds between generations strong. His recent leadership of the Greek Alumni Council at Lehigh has formed to build a stronger ties with the university between alumni, undergraduates and university administrators.

Undergraduate Advisory Board accepting nominations

One important business item at our Convention is the election of two brothers to the Undergraduate Advisory Board (UAB). This board serves to facilitate input from the undergraduate chapters to our Executive Council. UAB members serve on committees as well as attend all Executive Council meetings through the academic year. All costs associated with the position are covered by the International Office, we only ask that UAB members do their best to attend the Fall and Spring meetings in person.

While the UAB members are elected by the Psi U Convention, we are accepting applications in advance of the weekend that will be shared with the committee on Nominations and Credentials, and all brothers who apply for the position will have their information passed along to the elected members of the UAB to consult with over the course of the year.

Social Impact Fellowship Applications open July 17th

From the Archives: John Horn, Omicron ’61 photo album

We have a number of unique items stored in our archives, and how they find their way to us is an adventure in itself sometimes. In the Fall of 2020 we were contacted by the Moss Family Funeral Home in Batavia, IL. They had held a service for a Mr. John Horn after his passing in June of 2020. He had no living relatives, and his remaining personal items were being donated to goodwill. A photo album of his time at the University of Illinois was left behind after the service and they felt it was appropriate to reach out to us, as they could tell, while personal in nature, it would have some historical significance to Psi Upsilon and they didn’t just want to discard it.

You can view the album here or read the full article about it
