Every member who is dedicated to helping your chapter attract, select, and secure the right members should become Certified Phired Up Recruiter. Also, upon completion be sure to share this certification on your LinkedIN Profile!
Each lesson is packed with videos and resources to help brothers learn:
The Fundamentals: Dynamic Recruitment Principles and the Fraternity Recruitment Funnel
How to maximize your recruitment efforts with technology
How to market your chapter (including a sample marketing plan)
How to grow your names list and fill your prospect funnel
The art of Social Excellence™ and how to make authentic connections with Potential New Members
How to use values-based selection to find the right members
How to give a bid the right way
How to systematize recruitment for the future (including an example of a successful recruitment plan!)
Chapter Alumni and Advisors who would like to ‘refresh’ their own recruitment skills are also encouraged to take part in the program and become certified.
Phired Up is the premiere organization to help fraternity and sorority chapters grow, and Psi Upsilon is excited to partner with them and become one of the first fraternities to offer their digital classrooms to all of it’s members and give brothers the opportunity to become a certified Phired Up Recruiter!

On Saturday, April 23rd, the Phi Beta Alumni Association initiated sixteen new members to the Undergraduate Chapter as we continue our return to the College of William and Mary. Currently an Owl Club, a term used for an undergraduate chapter returning to full chapter status, the chapter successfully petitioned the campus IFC and became a recognized organization in the Fall.
After some years of dormancy, the Alumni Association of the Phi Beta became re-invigorated thanks to Steve McCleaf, Phi Beta ’89, Christian Klein, Phi Beta ’92 and several other brothers. In the Fall of 2019, an opportunity to work with a group of undergraduates arose and we were positioned well to support them thanks to the alumni association. The pandemic did cause the return to be slower than we hoped it would be, last Spring the alumni initiated four brothers who were graduating, but wanted to see a larger number before they initiated the entire chapter. The alumni partnered with Phired Up to provide additional recruitment coaching which helped lead to a successful Spring recruitment period.
This initiation was held in the Wren Chapel on campus, where the chapter was originally installed 38 years ago on April 14, 1984. You can read about the original chartering of the chapter at psiuarchives.org.
If you know of any potential members attending William and Mary, or any campus with a Psi U Chapter, please be sure to send us their information using our “Recommend a Brother” form.
On Friday, March 18th, the Lambda Sigma Chapter at Pepperdine University hosted their annual Psi U Think You Can Dance Philanthropy. This event invites Fraternities, Sororities and other student organizations to create dance teams and compete in front of a panel of judges. Beginning in the 2000’s this event has grown into a campus tradition, and after having to hold the event online in 2021, returned to an in person performance in front of the student body on campus.
Since the Philanthropy’s inception proceeds have gone to support the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation which became Conquer Paralysis Now. Sam Schmidt ’86 was a founder and first president of Lambda Omega Sigma, the local fraternity that became our Lambda Sigma Chapter in 1998. Sam was a professional Indy car driver when he sustained a C-3/4/5 spinal cord injury while practicing for the 2000 season opener at Walt Disney World Speedway. He created the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation (SSPF) that year to raise funds for medical research, innovative equipment used for rehabilitation, and quality-of-life issues. In 2014 SSPF became Conquer Paralysis Now and is a leading authority on spinal cord injury research and treatment.
