2023 Leadership Institute & Speakers

The Leadership Institute takes up the majority of our programming on Saturday, and covers a variety of topics that are of interest to both undergraduate and alumni members of our fraternity. Sessions in 2023 include:

Applied Situational Leadership: How to Optimize Yourself and Lead Effectively

The core trait of all great leaders is that they are initiators. Leaders are able to rally talented people and help them to apply themselves individually and collectively to a cause. The cause may be to create an amazing Fraternal Brotherhood, to run a great new business, to complete a major project or to restructure an existing process like a curriculum or marketing campaign. Leaders must be initiators, risk takers who point our options and start action, but they must also be able to keep talented people engaged and develop them as they move forward. In this session, you will learn how to do both. You will be introduced to the “champion mindset” of initiators and the tactical methods of Situational Leadership to help you develop yourself and anyone else in any “situation”. When you finish this session, you will understand how to apply both strategies right away and you will be given tools to help you increase your ability to use these methods for a lifetime. This session will be highly interactive, loaded with practical tips and directly applicable to your life immediately.

History and Archives Committee

The History and Archives Committee was created in 2020 to better research and highlight Psi Upsilon’s stories. Each year the committee picks a topic to research and present at Convention to give attendees a glimpse at our history and discuss the brothers who help make our fraternity special.

Engagement and Technology

Fraternity and Foundation Leadership will review ways to engage with Psi Upsilon on the national level including programs like the speaker series and history and archives committee, publications and useful technology for chapters like MemberPlanet, Crowd Change, and more!

Risk Management Review

It’s important that every chapter knows and understands our Risk Management Policy. We’ll review the policy and talk about some best practices that chapters apply to comply with it. We will utilize examples directly from our experiences with chapters, as well as discuss trends we’re seeing in Higher Education.

Roundtable Discussion Groups

As a part of the registration process we asked attendees to identify topics they would like to discuss. Using that information we’ve identified a number of topics including: Effective Budgeting and Accounts Receivable, Recruitment, Utilizing the Connects Grant, the Psi U Cares Program and more. In addition topics on Fundraising and an Advisory Board Meeting will occur for Alumni.
