2025 Leadership Institute & Speakers

The Leadership Institute will prominently feature in our Saturday programming, offering a range of topics appealing to both undergraduate and alumni members of our fraternity. Central to our agenda will be recruitment and growth, complemented by small group discussions that delve into specific areas of interest. We are also eager to hear from attendees regarding suggested topics, and we will prioritize those that resonate most with our registrants.

Growth is your Legacy: Why Psi U Matters More Than Ever

Growth isn’t just about your numbers—it’s about your chapter’s future. Whether you’re a tight-knit group of 15 or a powerhouse with 100+, one truth remains: there are students on your campus who need what Psi U offers. But they’ll never find it if your chapter isn’t present, visible, and proud of who you are. Every single member has the power to transform their chapter—starting today. We’ll name the mindsets holding chapters back, cast a vision for what’s possible, and preview a recruitment system that any chapter—regardless of size or structure—can implement. This is about building belief, sparking momentum, and deciding what kind of chapter you want to be remembered as. You don’t need to be the loudest or the biggest chapter to grow. You just need the right mindset and a system that works, because Psi U matters, and it starts with you.

History and Archives Committee

The History and Archives Committee was created in 2020 to better research and highlight Psi Upsilon’s stories. Each year the committee picks a topic to research and present at Convention to give attendees a glimpse at our history and discuss the brothers who help make our fraternity special.

Engagement and Technology

Fraternity and Foundation Leadership will review ways to engage with Psi Upsilon on the national level including programs like the speaker series and history and archives committee, publications and useful technology for chapters like MemberPlanet, Crowd Change, and more!

Risk Management Review

It’s important that every chapter knows and understands our Risk Management Policy. We’ll review the policy and talk about some best practices that chapters apply to comply with it. We will utilize examples directly from our experiences with chapters, as well as discuss trends we’re seeing in Higher Education.

Breakout / Smaller Group Discussions

As a part of the Registration Process, we asked attendees to highlight some topics they would like to see covered. Each roundtable will be monitored by staff and/or key volunteers and you should attend topics that you feel you have something to offer or if you have a burning question. We did our best to spread topics out as much as possible.

The sessions in Hall of Languages 102 are all follow-ups to the opening session by Jonah Mudse at Phired Up, and we encourage every chapter to send at least one delegate to these sessions.

The sessions in Hall of Languages 111 are for our alumni delegates.

Round 1 (1:30 – 2:15)

Recruitment: Build Your Names List – Hall of Languages 102

Too many chapters are stuck in “hope mode”—hoping people will show up, hoping word will spread, hoping growth just happens. This session will reset that mindset. You can’t grow your chapter if you don’t know who you’re trying to grow with. We’ll walk through the top of the growth system funnel—finding the right people, building your pipeline, and getting your whole chapter involved. Whether you’re at 15 members or 100, this is where sustainable growth begins.

Creating Better Brotherhood Events – Hall of Languages 105

A significant theme of this convention has been recruitment, but what internal events are we hosting to encourage members to connect in fun and meaningful ways once recruitment is over? We’ll share some of the things we’ve seen that help bring initiated brothers together and build “A Mighty Friendship.”

Meaningful Philanthropy and Service – Hall of Languages 114

What pushes a Philanthropy event to be great? That not only makes an impact to a non-profit but leads to brothers who are proud of what they’ve done? We’d love to hear what are some of the more successful Philanthropic and Service events you’ve seen on your campus, and lets break down and dissect how they became impactful.

Alumni: Successful Fundraising Strategies – Hall of Languages 111

Annual Funds, Special Projects, Capital Campaigns… all are connected but each is uniquely different. We’ll discuss where to start or improve your programs, how to create a communications program to complement your fundraising, and some fun ways to boost your giving. Most importantly we’d love to hear what you’ve done in your alumni association that you’ve seen lead to results in donations and engagement.

Round 2 (2:30 – 3:15)

Recruitment: Have Better Recruitment Conversations – Hall of Languages 102

Once you’ve got names, it’s time to connect! This session is all about turning casual introductions into real relationships—without making things awkward. You’ll learn how to build trust, talk about Psi U with confidence, and move people through the funnel in a way that feels natural, not scripted because real growth comes from conversations that matter.

Motivating Members – Hall of Languages 105

Having trouble getting people to pay their bills? Showing up to events? Meetings? How do we cultivate a culture where our members are eager to attend events and actively participate? What works better, the carrot or the stick? We’ll discuss all of these matters, offer suggestions and listen for ways you are already overcoming these problems in your chapter.

Reaching Out to Alumni – Hall of Languages 114

The Vision statement of Psi Upsilon is “Psi U is For Life” but sometimes our chapters struggle with getting alums back and involved. While involvement is a two-way street, we’ll spend time discussing the ways that chapters have found alumni who want to be involved and support the current undergraduate chapter. And what are ways we can leverage technology to make it easier for alums to feel welcome and involved with the chapter?

Alumni: What to do in a Crisis – Hall of Languages 111

When an emergency occurs in your chapter, how should you respond? Who should you call? And what can you do now to position yourself and not wait until the crisis happens. We’ll discuss some of the crisis we’ve dealt with the last few years and where we’ve had successes, and failures.

Round 3 (3:30 – 4:15)

Retaining Your Members – Hall of Languages 102

Recruitment doesn’t end when someone says “yes”—that’s just the beginning. The truth is, most chapters don’t struggle with getting members; they struggle with keeping them. This session is all about follow-through: how do you set expectations that stick and keep your members and avoid ‘senioritis’, inactivity, and those brothers who just disappear. Growth isn’t just about adding people—it’s about creating something they’re excited to stay part of.

Impactful Chapter Meetings – Hall of Languages 105

Chapter Meetings are an important part of the Fraternal Experience, but they’ve come a long way from what they were in 1834. How do we organize our chapter so we make the most of our time together as a group? How do we leverage technology to act as a complement to our chapter meetings? And what are the pitfalls and warning signs we may see that let us know it’s time to improve?

Undergraduate Advisory Board – Hall of Languages 114

The Undergraduate Advisory Board was a way for Undergraduate members to be able to attend Executive Council Meetings and give direct input to the board. In recent years, interest in the program had waned. Still, we want to hear from you ways that undergraduates can become more involved and give input gain transparency and participate in the leadership of the fraternity and what ways you feel would be best to adopt.

Alumni: Alumni Advisory Board – Hall of Languages 111

This is a time for alumni to give feedback on what needs they have and what they would like to see from the International Office as well as to discuss current programs in more detail. We ask that anyone who is an officer of their alumni association to attend.
