Psi Upsilon is pleased to include among our living alumni two icons of the horror literature genre; author Brian Asman, Phi Delta ’03 (Mary Washington), and Pseudopod.org horror fiction podcast editor and host Alex Hofelich Gamma Tau ’98 (Georgia Tech) . Both are decorated with genre awards spanning over a decade. Join them to learn about their ongoing projects and more.

Brian Asman is a writer, actor, and director from San Diego, CA. He’s the author of Good Dogs and Man, Fuck this House (And Other Disasters), both forthcoming from Blackstone. His other books include I’m Not Even Supposed to Be Here Today from Eraserhead Press, Our Black Hearts Beat as One, Neo Arcana, Nunchuck City, Jailbroke, and Return of the Living Elves. He’s recently published short stories in Pulp Modern, American Cannibal, and Kelp, and comics in Tales of Horrorgasm.

A film he co-wrote and produced, A Haunting in Ravenwood, is available now on DVD and VOD. His short “Reel Trouble” won Best Short Film at Gen Con 2022 and Best Horror Short at the Indie Gathering.

Brian holds an MFA from UCR-Palm Desert. He’s represented by Dunham Literary, Inc.

Alex Hofelich is Co-Editor of Pseudopod, a weekly horror podcast magazine. It is part of the pro-paying Escape Artists network, which has been delivering weekly short fiction in multiple genres since 2005. He has been involved with PseudoPod since 2009 and became co-Editor in 2015. He edited the anthologies For Mortal Things Unsung and Georgia Gothic. He is currently serving as President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Horror Writers Association and is a regular host of their Southern Nightmare Reading Series. He is currently serving as the Jury Coordinator/Co-Chair of the Bram Stoker Awards. Psi Upsilon: Awards and Achievement Celebration; free online to all brothers

As part of our Psi Upsilon Days of Giving events, join brothers in October for a virtual celebration of some of our recent awards and recognition recipients. We plan to highlight the achievements and pursuits of our fine volunteers and award recipients. Some of the speakers will include recipients of Scholarships, Distinguished Alumni Service Awarrds, Social Impact Fellowships, Psi U Media & Journalism awards. and more. Ed Marinaro, Chi ’71 (Cornell) is an American actor and former football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Minnesota Vikings. He played college football for the Cornell Big Red, where he was a unanimous All-American and won the Maxwell Award in 1971. Marinaro was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1991.
While at Cornell, Marinaro joined Psi Upsilon. He went on to play professional football for six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks, appearing in Super Bowl VIII and Super Bowl IX with the Vikings. He scored 13 touchdowns over his career. He holds four NCAA records: most rushes per game in a season (39.6 in 1971), career average carries per game (34.0, 1969–71), most rushing yards per game over an entire career (174.6, 1969–71), and earliest game reaching 1,000 rushing yards (5th, 1971).
After football, he got his first big acting break in the comedy series “Lavern and Shirley”. He is also known as a regular cast member of Hill Street Blues, playing Officer Joe Coffey for five seasons (1981–1986).
From 2010 to 2011, Marinaro starred in the football comedy series Blue Mountain State.
Marinaro is married to fitness expert Tracy York and has one son.

Peter A. Weismantle, AS+GG’s Director of Technical Architecture, is responsible for overseeing the development of AS+GG’s challenging and complex projects from onset to completion. He works in collaboration with the project team to develop the design of such technical elements as the building envelope, vertical transportation, and life safety systems, and to assure compliance with applicable building codes and standards. He is a recognized authority on the technical aspects of the architecture of tall and complex buildings; both nationally and internationally.

Peter has led the technical architecture of many of AS+GG’s international projects including Jeddah Tower, Wuhan Greenland Tower, and Greenland Tower Chengdu, all of which are now under construction. Recently Peter led the technical architecture of Al Wasl Plaza, the centerpiece of Expo City Dubai, which features a 150-meter diameter domed trellis with an immersive projection experience and Uptown Tower, a new 190,000 sm 72-story mixed-use building also in Dubai.

Before joining AS+GG in 2008, Peter was an Associate Partner in the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, where he served as Senior Technical Architect on several supertall towers, including Shanghai’s 88-story Jin Mao Tower and the 163-story, 828 meter (2,717 foot) tall Burj Khalifa, currently the world’s tallest building. He also collaborated on Ludgate Development, Broadgate Development and parts of Canary Wharf, all large mixed-use developments in London, as well as the 94-story Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago.

Peter is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat and the Façade Tectonics Institute. He is the past-Chairman of the Chicago Committee on High Rise Buildings, past-President of the Safety Glazing Certification Council, past-member of the Advisory Committee of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat and past-Chairman of the Height Committee, past-member of the Architectural Advisory Group of Underwriters Laboratories and member of the Otis Elevator Customer Advisory Board and the National Fire Prevention Association’s High Rise Building Safety Advisory Committee As well as a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Façade Tectonics Institute.
